Little Acorns is group of OFSTED-registered childminders based in and around the Calne area of Wiltshire also covering locations such as Devizes, Derry Hill, Compton Bassett, Hilmarton and Lyneham.

Their members all provide high-quality, professional childcare to babies, pre-school children and after-school children as a widely-used and practical alternative to nursery or pre-school childcare.

The group already works very closely with many of the schools and nurseries in the area as they acknowledge that some parents may prefer a varied approach to childcare and the environments in which their children are cared for.

The members are all individual childminders who formed the group
a few years ago initially to act as a support group for each other if someone needed advice or assistance but has since grown into offering weekly sessions for the childminders and their children to get together and join up increasing social awareness in the children and giving them additional experiences to enjoy.

Little Acorns is a non-profit making organisation.  Members pay a small annual fee which goes towards running weekly events and local advertising and providing other services to children being cared for by members of the group.  All other monies and goods are received through donations from members of the public and local businesses.  Once expenses are accounted for, all monies are put back into the group to improve the services and equipment on offer to the children who are being cared for by the members.

The group members also undertake activities which benefit other local groups and charities such as taking part in the Barnardo's Big Toddle, Red Nose Day, Children In Need and also raising money for Swindon Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The group has a website at www.littleacornscalne.co.uk where parents can find out information on childminders in their locality and there is also a list of vacancies that the members currently have so any parents looking for childcare for the new School term (or just looking to change their existing childcare arrangements)  can see straight away which childminders would meet their needs.

For anyone in the area who is already a childminder, or looking to become one, there is also a section on the steps required to become fully qualified, and also how to join the group if you would wish to do so.

If you're looking for childcare, or would like to consider a career in childcare, head on over to their website at www.littleacornscalne.co.uk for further information...

Our website has now been updated with latest childcare vacancies and we've got lots of new members who have joined recently who can assist in all of your childcare requirements.

Some members also accept nursery vouchers should your employer take part in such schemes.
