We went to Lydiard park on a whim and what a fantastic time we had.

The last time i was there it was in need of a bit of TLC and that has now happend big time.

Cost - Free to get in and Park.

Whats there - A huge brand new adventure playground, one of the best i have ever seen and it caters for older and younger children in 2 separate areas.
There is a nice cafe, which serves lunches and snacks, all at reasonable prices.
Lydiard House is open to the public for a minimal price, though realy for the adults and older children.
The Park itself has a huge lawned area, which is great for football or messing around and there are wonderfull walks along gravel paths around a large newly dug lake with a beautifull fountain in the middle.

Lydiard Park is between wootton basset and swindon and i brown signposted from the inner ring road around west swindon or accessable from the hook road just out side W/Bassett

It really is worth the visit and we'll be there again very soon indeed.

went there for the first time last summer and was well impressed with it.
the kids spend the time in the park whilst most adults lazed on the grass .fantastic to take a picnic  as well.
it was very clean it never had any dog mess, litter or graffitti.
