Kizzy on Cable. Virgin media 20 meg broadband.
Internet speeds are confusing. They are meant to be.
So called 8meg broadband is not 8 megabytes, it is 8 megabits. Which in turn is 800kilobytes. So 8meg broadband = 800 kilobytes per second. = a cd worth of data in 100 seconds.
2 meg broadband = 2 megabits = 252 kilobytes per second. = a cd worth of data in 350 seconds.
Dial up = 52 kilobites per second = 5 kilobytes per second = a cd worth of data in 15,000 seconds.

The surprising thing is that broadband is cheaper to supply then dial up. |
