We went to the Lamb inn on Friday night for a meal which has a reputation for being a bit of a gastronomic delight. It didn't live up to its reputation I'm afraid. :(
I had a home made mushroom soup for a starter which was quite nice if a little on the salty side (mushroom soup is notoriously difficult to judge on seasoning). My main course was a rib eye steak served with sauteed potatoes and salad. The steak, which was ordered rare, came out cooked medium and the sauteed potatoes were very oily (like they have been standing for a while waiting to be delivered). The salad was rather uninspired as well with just the usual cos lettuce with the odd sprig of rocket for good measure all coated in a vinegarette dressing. For sweet, I had lemon cheesecake, which at £5.00 a shot I would have expected a nice homemade example but it turned out to be a shop bought dull affair with no real lemony zest which you would expect. All-in-all it was a rather disapointing meal. :(
