I went to the Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon for the "fun with floats" session.

The guy in front of me in the queue was on his own, without kids, in his 40s. He said "1 to swim please", the receptionist took his money but told him it was not a "normal" session, but was "fun with floats". He said that was OK, and went in.

In the pool, EVERYONE was either the parent of kids (like me, I was there with out 4 year old), or they were kids themselves, on their own (age of 8 upwards in groups).

However this chap was on his own, in the shallow end, just watching people.

It made me feel very very creepy, and I think I'll email the centre to see if they'll change their entry policy.

He could have been completely innocent, but he didn't do any swimming about, and was just hanging about in the shallow end where there were lots of young kids.........

What do other people think?

My mother took my kids to emery gate a few weeks back. There was an Asian chap in the center with a camcorder filming kids. He got very irate when my mother kept standing between him and my kids. The center security asked him to leave in the end. If I was there, I would of made sure I left with the tape.

oh come sometimes it goes to far .in some schools now you are no longer to camcord your childs christmas panto.

pimpdriver  as a mother i would be concerned but did advert say that it was fun just for kids as long as they are with the adults?

he could have just been a bloke who wanted to check out the new pool and have a swim .and as its not much room i guess he couldnt help but watch the people in the pool.
how ever saying that you should sent a email to the center and just point out the bloke and make them aware of him.

if he just wanted to perv why didnt he go up stairs and look through the glass?

I'm completely up for freedom etc, but sometimes you just get "a gut feeling". It just didn't seem "right". He didn't seem to be trying out the pool, else he would have been down the deeper end swimming about.

You know when you get "a feeling" about a situation,  buying a car, going for a job etc, and you don't get the right "feeling", well it just didn't seem "normal".

Just my thoughts and personal opinions......

I agree with Pimpdriver - you just know about these things.

If I was the swimmer (as I have no kids) I would have opted to come back another time - If it was a fun session then there was obviously no-room for proper swimming.  If you are a lone adult in a pool full of kids - you are obviously going to draw negative attention

I have to admit if it was me in a pool with a load of kids, on my own, i'd be in the deep end actually swimming ! Trying to avoid the mats and kids, that come hurtling by.

I would also have phoned and asked when the pool was open for adult swimming, so i wouldn't have been in there anyway !

But like Local says, it was prob innocent and he was just checking the pool out.

And Yes i have kids of my own so i know what was going through your mind. There are some weird people out there and we as parents have to protect them.
