I do think too it is rather pointless to quote a whole post in reply - only if it is a few lines, and then only if you're responding directly to it.

I've always thought quoting to be rather comedic, myself, however we are going off topic with the subject of quoting... maybe a new topic for it?

Couldn't you add a script so that however much you quote, only the message of the person you are quoting appears on your message, without their quote?
seen it before a long time ago
