Dont get me wrong but is all this fuss about the Leisure Centre closing and raising money to get it reopened not a case of not realising what you've got till its gone and will it not end up going anyway when the new people running it find out that not enough people use it which is why it shut in the first place. How many of us on this forum used it in the twelve months before it closed and how many will be using it twelve months after it reopens.

good point bear .I know when my other half used to take my son swimming there was very little people in it.not only that they will face quitre a up hill struggle as people who did use it has proberly gone else where.
the schools used to use it a lot though i dont know if that will be the case when it re opens.
a lot of calne people either use blacklands or the st marys which to be fair was a lot more up to date and cleaner than calne sports center.
i hope it does work out for them but like you bear i wonder if they are just prolonging the more pernament closer of the center.only time will tell. |

there should be no doubt that the leisure centre will reopen, at the firework display on sat night the group were handing out leaflets, taking bookings etc. if you want to book the hall for football or any thing else the word is get your application in quick.
www.calneleisurecentre.co.uk
this is obviously a serious group and they don't plan to be closing, as long as the people living in calne want it open. |

Was it ever really that busy?
If you want to save it then get mr Bowood to buy it and turn it into some £10k a year executive gym or something.
Be honest now, how many of you lot have used it since leaving school?
If you have, how often?
I know damn well I have not been there since leaving school. |
