You must be kidding! Canadians seldom eat soy beans. Too many Canadian's waddle from one fast food joint to the next one. Tim Hortin's donuts, which is junk food if not one step up by being toxic, is one of peoples favourite take-outs.
Personally, I consider the Japanese to have the best overall diet in the world. There is some evidence to support this with their life expectancy being probably the highest in the world. Soy beans are amongst the best vegetable food in fhe world, and the Japanese partake of them fairly often. Soy beans are the King of the dried beans, but all dried beans are beneficial, as are the pulses.
I suggest the NA diet slowly kills people; in spite of the fact that for the first time in human history almost every food choice is available.
People drink canned mass produced juice, which is mostly water with a vitamin pill added. Not my quote.
Old ways die hard in this society of instant gratification. People sample some "touted beneficial food" and expect next day results This is simply not the case. It takes several weeks before the effects of a diet change are noticed.
I could go on and on, but will stop here. _________________ Durgan. Brantford, ON, Canada Zone 5B

A little off topic. I might add my little dog gets a diet produced by myself. This is:
A playing card portion of frozen liver cut up RAW.
A piece of lamp stewing meat RAW, about one inch square.
One canned sardine each day.
One tablespoon of my home produced juice.
One RAW egg on top.
This is her daily ration. She maintains her weight and is active and alert. At least I know what she is eating. I might add that she walks 5 km every morning winter and summer. _________________ Durgan. Brantford, ON, Canada Zone 5B

England is more aware these days.although like the americans and canadians some do live on fast food.people on the whole has got lazy insted of making it there selfs its so much easier just to ring up a number.here we have the fish and chip shops which you cant beat the chips out of but where we live which to you i guess is a small town there is around twenty takeaway shops these are mostly kebabs, indian, chiense and fish and chips.
as for the dogs diet its a good diet fo rthe dog i sometimes give my cats raw liver.people often forget that dogs like cats are pure hunters and need other stuff than canned food. |

Admittably. BMI is not all things to all people, but probably a reasonable reference. We must start somewhere. _________________ Durgan. Brantford, ON, Canada Zone 5B

I stuff myself full of the worst possible things to eat.
Hence why I am severely overweight. _________________ LIKE A NIGHT OUT IN SWINDON

Hey, I am not a fanatic. But over the last fourty years I travelled throughout the world, mostly NA. Years ago I noticed the fattening up of people in the USA. Now there is no difference between Canadians and Americans.
I tend to blame the over-weight trend on the rise of fast food outlets, and prepared commercial food in the supermarkets, cooking shows on TV, amongst other things.
MacDonalds, KFC, Wendys, Tim Hortons, Burger King, Harveys to name a few are repulsive to me, but I do eat there periodically when travelling if absolutely necessary. Reduction of excessive Fat Sugar and Salt should be the aim. This does not mean one should not enjoy food. All it means is a change in mind- set and habits.
When my five children left home around 20 years of age, none were over-weight. Now three of the five are more thn pleasantly plump. What happened? I take great delight in telling them that when they were under my care there were no fat kids.
I might add that one lives in Japan, and she is healthy, active, and fit. This I attribute to the lack of easily accessible junk food establishments. _________________ Durgan. Brantford, ON, Canada Zone 5B
