If you've never lived in an inner city before, Calne is similar to many other towns, with similar "small town" problems. (Kids being kids etc.)
But if you've lived in inner cities before (I've lived in Bristol, Manchester, Portsmouth), it is a breath of fresh air.
No drug dealers on the corner (4 houses away), no house across the road being used as a brothel (I kid ye not), no people walking past your door at 3pm puking all over your front wall (yes, 3 in the afternoon), kebab wrappers, dogs eggs all over the pavement, and loads and loads and loads of Vickypollard-a-likes.

cheers for link....I see what you mean....I was born and brought up in Leeds for 20 years and then 20 years in Halifax .....we had riots one year and No Go areas for the Police in Halifax and yet I never felt unsafe day or night and I lived on the edge of the town centre on my own for 10 of those years..........theres nowt wrong with a good friday night riot I always say :wink: Looks like its all relative.........if you have lived in large cities/towns, the problems must appear very bad to small towns and villiages..........this has been a big help to us, and put things in prospective....cheers mate  .....Pat |
