For me the Town Hall is the signiture building for calne ,its a place where the decisions are made and a building what represents calne.
saying that a couple of things has dissapointed me over that building the first was the flag fiasco where they would not place the union jack on.
and now where is the huge poppy they place on the side of the building for poppy day?
They used to have it to show the support of the calne people now they dont WHY?
i think its a bit odd when the lansdowne hotel can place a huge banner displaying a poppy when the owners of the hotel arnt even english yet a building what represents calne cant be arsed.

Not sure whats happened to the giant poppy. It is likely to have worn out by now and been retired by the RBL.
If I remember correctly it was a temporary artwork created by local children in 2005 to mark the 60th anniversay of the end of WW2. I believe it was put up in subsequent years as it was so well received, but the weather will cause such a display to deteriorate very quickly. Maybe there's an RBL member out there that can confirm this.
I hope its not town hall bureaucracy preventing it from being displayed!
RBL have done a lovely job on creating "The Poppy Shop" at the community corner (old Goldmans) this year. Hope it helps raise the profile and funds.
