I agree it is a shame but what do others on the forum think should we have a carnival or is it just a waste of time?

Well last year, I enjoyed all 2 minutes 7 seconds of all 5 floats going past me.
I think that says it all really.

Why not? It's a good excuse to celebrate Calne and all that it has to offer.

What exactly does calne have to offer? Cause apart from it being a reasonable place to live, I cant think of anything else.

I remember Calne in 1977 when we had the Queen's silver jubilee (I was only a kid then) and the whole street got together and had a party. These sort of events create friendships and form a bond for the inhabitants of the town.

Got some decent areas to go to, a council that seems to be making some effort at least to improve this, and a significant number of people that choose to live and shop there.
