|
For those who are interested the first Area Board meeting for the Calne area will take place on Tuesday 7th July. The venue is the Calne town hall and it will commence at 6:30pm.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend and let their views be known.
We might actually hear from Chuck if he attends!
The board has funds to hand out so if you have a pet project this is the forum to promote it.

surely Chuck you should be promotingthese meetings as the whole point of the unitary council and the area boards was to return democracy down to the people at grass levels. it was never designed to be elitist. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

Care to explain to the wider forum what you mean by this? As otherwise it just reads as a bit of Chuck-bashing. |

its not a case of Chuck bashing, if you read his comments leading up to the election he, as I did, promised to promote his voters and Calne in a wider context. the board meetings are the forum from which this can be done.
the whole concept of the one council and the area boards was to return democracy to the people. the board has imput from local community groups CAIAC & CCAP being involved.
as Calne Norths representative its Chuck's repsonsibility to feed back what was discussed and issues that are being considered.
This can be said of all of Calne's unitary councillors but I live in Calne North so I am interested in Chuck's actions.
A letter in todays Gazette claims that 7 of the 98 unitary councillors did not turn up for the councils first meeting, I would suggest thats not a good start.
Should not councillors from what ever council should be answerable to their voters? _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

Too right Peter you have a right to know but to be frank not much happened first time. I did turn up for the Council meting not much happened there either.
The Board I did promote on this forum asdid you but You could not make it which is fine saw you at the Town Council and those issues you brought up could also be considered at the Board. I have made represenations to Highways about the Lickhill Rd and North way and the need to push the plans ahead so don't worry.
Anyway I do sense a bit of stick from your direction not what is in the best interest of working together but I'm sure you'll see I am genuine over time.
Chuck
