we have the daily telegraph 7 days a week and recently we have taken to recycling them for our open fire.
we  shred, by hand, the papers and any other paper product and it all goes into a tank of water. the paper is left for 2 to 3 days, stir occassionally.
when ready, trial and error required, the mash is place into the gadget and then compressed. the excess water is extracted and recycled.
the resultant brick is then left to dry and after a few dry days hey presto you have a "brick" ready for the next time you want an open fire.

recycling at its basic and saving us money in the process

I'd heard about this before, supposed to be quite effective.
