Anyone got any unwanted birds, or know of any?
We will take in almost any unwanted pet birds, any that we cannot house permanently we can find good homes for.
Rescued birds tend to stay with us, but any young that are bred we sell or trade to offset the cost of the feed (several hundred pounds over a year)
The aviary housing that we have is about 20' square, has various nest boxes everywhere, its own shed annex for them, and a pond and waterfall.
Wild birds are the domain of the RSPCB, with the exception of pheasants or ducks (we will take them in)
The hen pheasant we have (been here for 2 years now) was clobbered by a car up the top end of anchor road and brought to us by one of the locals. There was no broken bones fortunately, and she fully recovered within a week. The reason why we wont release her is because she got tame quickly, and she would end up being shot or caught. The golden pheasant we had at the time enjoyed her company as well, but he died last year at a grand old age of 20.
Wild ducks on the other hand can recouperate here and will be released as long as any injuries allow.
So anyone thinking of getting rid of their unwanted birds, pm me first, and we will see if we can assist!
ps - we can travel to collect (went to bristol to rescue 20+ cockatiels that got rehomed successfully)
