I thought that with a new manager (England) and a solid opposition (Czech republic) it might be worth going to the new Wembly Stadium. This was one of the biggest mistakes I have made.
The drive towards London was ok but the North Circular was stationary and by the time we found some where to park and walked to the stadium we missed the 1st 5 minutes.
The stadium is great although we did not see as much of it as we intended.
The football, the purpose of the trip, was absolutely awlfull. The England players, many of them, on this performance would not make the Swindon team. On this showing we will not quailify for the World Cup in South Africa.
I have not been a fan of David Beckham's for many years and cannot understand why he has been picked. He has no pace, has little or no control and in general cannot cross a ball. Yes he took the corner from which Brown scored but what about all the other corners free kicks and cross's which did not get pass the 1st defender. MacFarlane got something right!
Rooney was on another planet as was Gerrard, I could go on but won't.
The attendance was almost 70,000 I wonder how many others felt they had been the subject of a grand fraud.
The Czech players and fans must have been gutted they played well with pace, skill and looked like they were enjoying themselfs. A draw was not what they deserved.
On this showing stand by for more disappointments !!!!!!!!!!!
Did anyone watch it on the box

I totally forgot about the match. I did see the match reports this morning in the Telegraph and they were somewhat unimpressed with the teams performance.
David Beckham still has the odd flash of brilliance that marked his career but in all honesty he should maybe do the honourable thing and retire from international football and let the younger players in his position have a better crack at the whip and gain much needed experience in international football. The national team should have players who have won their place through a meritocracy and not just on past form or expectation. Trouble is though, on that sort of basis perhaps only the likes of David James, Steven Gerard and Rio Ferdinand would have been in the side. The biggest shame in English football is that Jamie Carragher retired from international football because he was fed up being used as a stop gap player for the past 5 years. He is a fantastic centre half who I would play in place of John Terry (who shouldn't have been made England Captain). _________________
