I was looking for a house in that area not so long ago, but just got completely put off by the hassle that I could see would be involved trying to park somewhere and get in/out of the estate.
Castle mound's on your right as you head out on the canal past the fire-station (along side where the old jetty is before you get to the hump-backed bridge). It could be quite a interesting place to go to, but has some exercise points set up that are already partly vandalised and generally not very well taken advantage of.

I hadn't noticed the Patch of Blue before - will have to check it out. THe one in Phelps Parade is a bit naff and with little choice, is the Marden that awful cafe next to Somerfields? |

The patch of blue is a small tea room just off church street.inbetween church street and the car park. 
They do not allow pushchairs in there so if you do have small children who require push chairs then go on a sunny day. |

THe one in Phelps Parade is a bit naff and with little choice, is the Marden that awful cafe next to Somerfields?
the one in phelps parade has changed hands so many time .i remember when i was small all the flies what used to be on the cakes.
the marden is a great place for a fry up after a skinfull the night before but always wear clothes in there what need to be washed as you come out stinking.havnt been in there since the smoking ban so you wont get the film of smoke greeting you as you walk in the door either. |

| :cussing: i cant believe how narrow they are building these roads on new houseing estates especialy when the houses dont have drive ways the cars have to park out on the road, surely this is more dangarous to children ? |

I would have thought so. Also much easier to get your vehicle scrapped by passing traffic, especially if large (say a dustcart). |
