I have just driven back from Newbury along the A4.
When I got to the Avebury roundabout, I started up the hill, but opposite the riding stables I noticed someone stood under a lamppost, with someone else standing by one of those 400cc big mopeds things.
The person under the lamppost was reading a map.
It was also dark, and peeing it down.
So, I thought they might need some help, if they were lost or broken down, so I turned round and pulled up by the moped thingy, wound down my window and said "are you lost, would you like any help?"
And the woman (in her 50s) said "no thanks, we're OK".
Not "well, we're stood in the middle of NOWHERE in the peeing rain at 1130pm reading a map, thanks for stopping......"
She made it feel like I'd asked her if she'd chop her own leg off with a blunt instrument.
Bizarre.

Fair play to you for stopping Steve! Most would not have bothered.
I'll thank you, as they couldn't be arsed to.

i agree with geddi, fair play for stopping.
Some people can be so rude. One of my pet hates is when i hold open a door for some one and they just walk through as if its there right!
I usually shout "thankyou" after them! |

Well I read the situation and they looked like they needed help.
If it was a couple of hairy arsed bikers on a Harley, and they were broken down, I probably would have stopped too, as I carry a limited toolkit in my car.
My Wife used to ride with a bunch of "hairy arsed bikers" in Devon, one of the nicest bunches of people you could meet. |

Newbury eh? I just moved to Calne from that neck of the woods. Whatever people say about Calne, I assure you that Thatcham is worse - and _much_ more expensive. |
