Here I am saying that same sex couples are as natural as opposite sex couples. Others say otherwise.

I have my reasons for saying what I say. I am all ears for others to comment.

Where same sex couples are concerned, they cannot be classed as natural where "nature" is concerned. The reason we exist is for the male and female, of any species, to mate and produce offspring to create the next generation - same sex couples are unable to do this, unless Mrs. Harvey, my biology teacher at John Bentley gave me the wrong lesson on human reproduction. If two people of the same sex want to co-habit and spend their entire lives together as lovers, then that is fine by me but you cannot say it is 100% natural.

I would like to remind members that this thread is about the topic of semantics concerning the word "natural" and what it can be applied to. Let's keep this topic on track (ie. keeping digression to a minimum) and have a mature debate.

To a gay person ,being gay is natural just like to a straight person its natural to them.
what is natural to one person just may not be natural to another. :wink:

With semantics in mind the Oxford dictionary lists nature as:

1. Existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind.

With this in mind I suppose you could argue that a same sex relationship is natural in the above sense. Perhaps I can say it is looked at as unnatural in a social context rather than a literary context?

Some of my missus' friends and mine are gay, but same sex sex is not "natural" or as nature intended. Quote from one of them told about this thread,"no, it's not, it took years to get this way, and a divorce!"
It's socially more acceptable nowadays, each to their own.

But..... i saw a program a little while ago where men and women were told to watch porn, they were all wired up to check heart beats and such........

The men got turned on watching, men with women and women with women Roll eyes

no surprises there :wink:

But the women got turned on more by watching women with women!!

Admin: The topic of this debate is not about semantics, it is about same sex sex being natural or not. I know, I started it.

Sex with the same sex is natural to those who are homosexual. Just as sex with the opposite sex is natural to those who are hetero sexual.

Mainly, it is not about choices, if it were then I would choose to be bisexual as it would give me a far greater scope to explore my sexuality and to have fun. As it is, I am only turned on by one particular sex.

GTB: There is a case for what you are saying, and as an environmental scientist (of sorts) I can see beyond your reasoning.

The earth is getting full of people and so this could be a way to ensure the population lessens. ?? Thin I know, but hey!
