lots of people on tv saying that, but I dont get it.

For a start - when I order stuff online, 99% of it arrives by the RM service. No RM, how will everyone get there stuff delivered?

Working for a med size company in this area, I know the RM is used for nearly all small things, like letters, and other bits.

i think maybe when they can do their job properly they should then go on strike! I'm fed up with getting other peoples post from 2 streets away, yeah could be done at the sorting office but surely if the other persons letter is at the top the pile they read the address before posting it through my door!!!!!!

If anything, the internet has increased the workload on the Royal Mail with the delivery of on-line bought goods.

Personal letters though have certainly taken a big nose-dive: I used to get through a booklet of stamps once every couple of weeks, now they last me well over a year as I can do almost everything (bill payments, orders etc.) on-line.  I think this is probably pretty typical for most people, and I doubt that the increase in shipping due to on-line goods covers the loss of revenue from these sorts of letters.
