Total cost, to me, of my PC as it stands, £235
Acer aspire sa80 - Free. (favour for a favour)
1 Gig ram upgrade - £50 (PC world bargain basket)*
Gforce 5500 fx 256 meg ram - £55
Uprgaded psu - £35
Upgraded cooler - £15
Second Hard drive - £45
Monitor is a 7 year old 22incher - £5 from car boot.
Rest on little things like keyboard, mouse, etc..
In fact, if you put the sum total, to me, down of all the computer bits in my house, it quite possibly comes below £1000. That is for 4 working computers, and enough bits to make 3 more.
Computers can be cheap if you know what to look for.
Xbox and ps3 will always be expensive.
*Did I ever mention I am banned from PC world in Worcester?

Nope.
My laptop is about the same but cost £375 from Dell.

Of course there are more users on the 360 - it's been available to buy since Dec 2005, the PS3 was only released in March this year.
PS3 is not a terrible console - it's fantastic.
A true geek would have all consoles no matter what, for example in my home, between 3 people we have:
2 PC's
1 laptop
2 PSP's
2 PS3's
2 Xbox 360's
1 Wii
2 PS2
1 Saturn
1 Xbox
1 Gamecube
1 Dreamcast
1 PSone
And i'm sure there are other consoles loitering around the place which i can't remember. Now that is Geeky
