We're all liking it lots actually.  My daughter has a place at Trinity school come September, and talking to locals, it appears we made a good choice there (and it's literally over the road).  The town itself isn't bad (retail wise), and I believe it will undergo some form of regeneration over the next few years...?

We moved here from Thatcham in West Berks, where property prices are just completely OTT.  I'd lived in that part of the world since I was a nipper, so moving away was quite a big deal, but we're happy with the decision (so far!).  I work in Hungerford, which is a very pleasant drive from here indeed.

I think Calne gets bad press to be honest - some of the posts on the Gazette and Herald site make this place come across like a right dump, but the truth is that every town up and down the country has it's good areas and bad areas.  Thatcham was certainly no exception!

We are still getting to know the area - so if anyone knows of any kiddies play areas in Quemerford, or the best pub(s), then please let me know.  smiling

And was that the sound of artillery fire from Larkhill I heard on Saturday morning?  Makes a change from church bells I guess!  smiling
