I think once the novelty of actually having snow has worn off you soon get pretty tired of it. Not only was the roads blocked but most of the schools closed down. I'm happy for it to snow heavily on a Friday and be gone by the Monday.

No i think your right daffy, the summers are not as hot as they used to be, this year our pool was only used once (alot of money for just one dip)

Every generation says that. My mum used to say in the 80s that the summers were better and always hot in the 60s. Yet the record say we are hotter today.

my perception is that the 60's, 70's & 80's were hotter/drier and the winters were colder.
there were the occassional high spots like the summer of 76 which was blindingly hot with hose pipe bans all over the country.
the winter of 63 was incredible with snow lying around for at least 2 months.

as far a global warming you have to look at the trends say over a minimum of 30 years or more.

it make sense to restrict pollution global warming or not. it make economic sense to reduce your power consumption.
we need to do these things.

I was driving up to heathrow every day without a problem. yes we did have snow in the 70's but it was never that much.
memory does suffer as you get older, summers were always hotter and winters always colder!

How were you getting from Calne to the M4??? Some of my neighbours took an hour to get to Wootton Bassett then turned round. I got as far as SIlbury Hill then lorries blocked the hills.

I hope we get more snow this year, my 4wd car will cope admirably again like it did last February, and this year I will have all season (summer and winter) tyres, rather than just purely summer tyres like 99.9% of the population.

I access the M4 either by going to the chippenhan junction via east tytherton or via hungerford. I drive the company vehilce which is a VW caravelle (no 4 wheel drive).
with snow on the road you just have to drive with caution and be sensible, I have never had a problem (thank goodness) so far.
