I've frequently parked in disabled parking bays in supermarkets if there is no Mother and Child. Although it may be morally wrong to use a disabled space I don't feel too bad when I see them using the Mother and Child spaces when they can't find a somewhere to park so it works both ways. Oh, and another thing, it really takes the mick when you see some of these so called disabled persons who have the badge for the parking and they then briskly walk from their car to the shop. I know one woman who has a disabled badge just because she has tennis elbow!! _________________

there is a big issue here and the 2 disabled spaces at Tesco's are always being used by abled bodied drivers.
Is not acceptable under any circumstances for able bodied to use disable parking places any where. Anyone who does should have the book thrown at them! _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

| I agree Peter I often take my disabled mother shopping and find all the disabled spaces are being used by non blue badge showing cars, a few weeks ago i also went to the Calne Tescos and out side in the 2 disabled bays were 2 white vans so i parked right across the pair of them and blocked both in and stuck the blue badge on. As i was getting my mother out the car the builders came out of the Tescos and said oi you cant park there, i said wanna bet, i then started to get abuse and they said we only went in to get sandwiches and fags and they had to go to work, i said you shoulda thought of that then because we got quite a big shop to do there and could take some time (and boy did we take our time) lol, maybe they might think next time they park there eh. The cheeky sods even said they gonna call the Police cause im parked illegally, i replied "and your not? go on ring them" |

i felt like doing the same as you biggless and blocking her in.
as for the mother and child parking issue by parking in a disabled you can still get a ticket for that.unless a car park is cancel owned there is bugger all you can do about it.
tesco cant do anything about people using them disabled spaces.
the parking up there is a huge issue and would be imporoved a great deal if the bottom end of that carpark was opened up. |

ive done that in the spaces by the post office, blocked some stuck up women in whilst i took my dad shopping oh and we had to have a coffee in the coffee shop just to make sure she was waiting for us when we got back
I agree too many people use the disabled bays that shouldnt, but im sorry i really dont agree with parent and todler bays, they didnt have them when my kids were little, i had to teach my kids to hold my hand or wait til i got the others out of the car (i had 3 under 5).
Maybe if more people done the same, kids wouldnt think its ok to walk in the middle of the road on the way home from school!!! |

I, on the other hand, think that the mother and baby parking spaces is a great idea. Why should you have to struggle getting a child out of the car at a supermarket, or anywhere else for that matter, because the modern way of parking is to cram as many spaces in as possible. I have been in a car park when all the mother and baby parking spaces have been taken and you can hardly get the door open to lift a child from its safety seat. I'm not sure how you can teach a child that is not even walking how to squeeze out of a tight space?? I also think that just because you didn't have mother and baby parking spaces in your day that it should be the same for everybody else in these more enlightened times. Cars are much wider and there are a lot more of them about than say 20 or 30 years ago. Any extra safety that a mother and baby parking space provides has to be a step in the right direction surely??
It seems that we are all a bit annoyed at the misuse of parking spaces in supermarkets, etc. Perhaps if they were properly policed then this would quell a lot of the trouble that is caused? _________________

I do agree in the mother and child parking,i think gtb make a valed point on the fact that cars these days are wider and larger and that 20 years ago the car pack spaces where not crammed in like they are now.
I dont agree in mother and baby using disabled ,nor do i agree with disabled to use mother and child. |

I get annoyed when people use mother and baby parking when they have a much older child. They seem to think any age of child is ok.
I agree about the standard spaces being to small. If they didn't cram them in we wouldn't need mother and baby.
oh, and did you know with a disabled badge you can park on double yellows, as long as you are not causing an obstruction! |

abitmuch ,if a sign states mother and child then they are perfectly in there right to use a space despite what ever age they may be.
You can stilll get a parking ticket if you have a disabled badge and park on double yellow .
