Funny how in the decent area of Calne that I live i've never had any trouble, been threatened or had any noise pollution. Drug raids....unheard of!
Have you got a job or does the council give you a house? If the former Move off the Chav side and you might get less hassle!
If it's the council, what do you expect to happen in areas where most of the people have no jobs, mostly through their own fault!

thats a sweeping generalization don't you think!
I earn a good full time wage, but could never afford private rent or to buy. Not all people from council estates are CHAV's, in fact, some of the biggest snobs I know live in council houses! |

that is indeed a sweeping statement.most houses in my area is private .like all of calne there is a mix.so your thing of living in a council estate is utter boll ocks.
in thirty years of growing up in calne and living in and around calne i have lived in 4 different areas of calne.we bought a house in braemor road back in 2000 and dispite its reputation which is a huge mix of council and private we are selfs had no problems there, however around us we had stolen cars, drugs and the usal.on another part of calne there was burgularys, another we found to be surrounded by perves.
do i have a job?im a mother and student my other halfs works for the probations service.
all parts of calne has its good and bad sides, but give me a area of calne what dosnt have council houses mixed in.cos i cant think of one. |

oh calnelife take off those rose tinted glasses
ive lived in calne now for over 40 years and i own two houses!
Calne is not as bad these days as it was back in the 80s but calne still does have its problems, drug raids although not as common now still go on,maybe not in your street but i bet just around the corner there has been one!
Being threatened by anyone is not nice, i personally have never had it happen to me, but one of my sons had someone attack him for no reason a couple of year back
No calne is not as bad as chippenham or other towns but then they are also bigger than calne, so for the size of calne it seems worse.
I still dont worry about walking the streets any time of the day or night.........i walk with two rotties by my side |

| It's all relative. I used to live in Leeds and if you wanted a council house somewhere as nice as Stokes Croft you'd be on like a ten year waiting list. |

not far from there.
The new part of stokes croft is alfulll and is known as mini byruit .
The look is horrible becuase of the wood on the houses, kids often run riot around there and kids as young as two are out and about on there own in nappys at the park iin the dark.
church street is nice i also like patford street and castle walk.
did you know they very nearly demolished the amesbury houses in the 60s/ |

calne has lost many many of its interesting properties, it would be a much nicer place if the had not. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |
