Maybe its not Calnes fault......but where do these yobs live????
Um guess that will be CALNE !!
If your looking for blame, try the parents.
yes every town has its problems some worse than calne but when you live in a troubled area its not funny. lets face it, if you needed to call the police it would take them 10 minutes to get from chippenham!!! |

Calne isn't actually as bad as other local towns around here .....
Chippenham has far more violent muggings, burgularies and general problems ..... it seems every week someone has been mugged and been kicked in in Monkton park ..... and lets not even go as far as trowbridge, swindon or Bristol.
Perhaps a change of area would be a good thing for you ......... |

People here moan about Calne but everyone I've had visit the area says how nice it is and how much they prefer it to where they live, without exception.
True, they don't see it on Friday and Saturday nights, but every town has its share of 'weekend culture' issues in the UK, many (most) much worse than Calne's. |

it the old syndrome of "is the glass half empty or half full"
I would always where possible look for the positive rather than the negative. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

I think Chippenham is becoming far worse than Calne ever has been.
As was said, it is a few who ruin it for the rest.
Many parts of Calne are very nice. |

From a previous thread Local Lass we live pretty close to eachother. I know what you mean. I've been threatened by kids round here loads of times, there seems to be a drug raid every other day and the noise at weekends from the local retard populace is highly irritating.
It's really not as bad as a lot of places though. I used to live in London and on many occasions we had yobs from Millwall Football Club throwing fireworks, bricks, metal tools, bottles and glasses at police and smashing windows of both houses and vehicles, we had a 15-year-old shot three times in the head by a gang two streets away, it wasn't safe to walk down the street at night because of the scum who would mug you for drug money, and the noise of the prostitutes and local gangs was hell. Calne really doesn't seem so bad |

Calne aint that bad, just a dozen or so idiots that think they own the town and can do what they like, especially when drunk/high. The kids that are a pain in the butt its primarily down to their upbringing and their lack of respect (dread to think what the parents are like!), generally when they get hollered back at they dissappear quite quickly
There are a few places in Calne know for being "rough" areas to live, and thats mainly down to just a few obnoxious families, where the parents are as bad if not worse than the kids.
Even the placid Isle of Wight had some scumbag families scattered around various towns, the only way to avoid these people and hassle is to move or get them moved. Having lived in a few places, I am more than happy to live out my life in Calne, just enough life (IOW was dead) but quiet when you need it
-having said all that, I still wouldnt mind living in a coastal farm away from everyone lol
