taken from the gazette web site
A group of A&E doctors and nurses at a Wiltshire hospital have been suspended after bosses caught them posting photographs of themselves playing 'The Lying Down Game' on Facebook.
Seven staff at Great Western Hospital, in Swindon, allegedly took part in the internet craze by lying down on resuscitation trollies, ward floors and a heli-pad.
The group, from the hospital's A & E department and Acute Assessment Unit, had been working a night shift and posted photographs of the stunt on Facebook.
Hospital bosses were alerted to the prank by a whistleblower and the medics may now face the sack after being suspended on full pay.
Contestants playing 'The Lying Down Game' must lie face down with the palms of their hands against their sides and the tips of their toes pointing at the ground.

There is no way they should have been suspended.they work in a high stress job and see sights that we would only see in our night mares .they were only having a little fun and no harm was done there was no risk to the patients .and patient care wasnt affected in any way.
i have had numous appointments cancelled there cos of lack of staff so it just seems silly.
99 per cent of people has messed around at work at one time or another.

It's something of nothing really. Let's hope these NHS bosses are squeaky clean themselves if they are going to start sacking people over a daft stunt that ultimately did no one any harm. _________________

ive seen that ,funny thing is over the summer holidays i had to take my son to the a and e in chippenham as he broke his wrist then had to go to swindon.both these places still had the magerzines .
i can never understand why the hospital dosnt install like they have at the travel stops on the moter way .
you can go in to the toilet you dont even have to touch the toilet its all done by sensers ever the taps.
surley that would help the spread of most germs. |

no there not.the doctors and the nurses when in a room get a clean disposable apron on when they treat a patient.in context though was it really worth suspending them al when gwh is short of nurses and doctors. |

There still putting vunarable patiants lifes at risk by cross contamination ,that little joke went to far .
Its not a very good advert for the great western with staff pulling stunts like that,i dont see that they had any choice but to suspend them ,if they was seen to do nothing about this what reasurance does that give the public . |

The one thing they should never have done was to post it on the net .its no difference than people who work in old peoples home taking the ! out of those that are there and chucking food about.
no matter where you work you have a little fun .they put no lifes at risk
