providing they are a uk citizon then yes havnt got a problem with that. Its not the persons fault that they are disabled .for some it is not the persons fault at being over wieght and before anyone says that they choose to over eat is the biggest amount of crap going,if you want to go down that road then why should anerexics get help they choose not to eat.
The fact of the matter is that our nhs is failing .it is a very good system no one can deny that and the people who work for the nhs do a stirling job.
It is being crippled and unless something is done about it there will be no nhs. |

I think that there are 2 main issues, one of which we can & should do something about the other we cannot.
There are far to many administrators and not enough front line nurses in the system. This government is obsessed with "league tables" which in my opinion does not help anyone. (its the same in schools). If we were to cut done on the back room staff and spent the money on nursing more operations would get done and wards could be kept clean.
The 2nd factor is that advances in medicine means that we are keeping more people alive than we did 20 years ago, this costs more.
In this country we actually spend less than in others, France for example. There the state pays for 80% of costs and everyone takes out insurance to cover the difference. The French also have more benefits than we do. The down side is that it has to be paid for and its business's who pay the most.
My personal opinion is that we have a NHS which should be free for all at the point of delivery, I sound like a socialist). If we admit anyone into the country as a resident, not a visitor, then they should be able to access the NHS. In europe with the E111 we can access other countrys health systems. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

but only up to the amount that a french resident would receive, ie 80% of the cost. At least that's as I understand it. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

scarp all the red tape and return it back to a "national" health service instead of about 60 or 100 "local pcts" each with their own budgets.
one lot wont pay the other lot for anything because it means the money goes out of their accounts its pathetic
trust me i know all about this, even been in contact with my gp tonight about it, im awating an op but swindon wont pay bristol to do it |

Some great points raised here ,going back to "Would i want to know " I can understand where the family are coming from to protect there loved one from the truth ,but a great point Kathy that the person isnt going to have his final wishes granted .But i guess at 95 you are knocking on Heavens door already , I really dont know if i would want to know especially if they are not going to treat it .
The N.H.S. are stretched to the limit there are to many cheifs and not enough indians ,i couldnt fault them personly |
