If the doctor discoverd you had cancer that because of your age ( 95) they wasnt going to treat it exept pain relief ,and your family knew but thought there was no point telling you even thou you was of sound mind ,and you knew somthing was wrong with you but not what ??

Yes i would want to know.
My dad was 82 when he died he had a form of cancer and knew what was wrong with him, he was able to tell us his final wishes and do some of the things he had wanted to do.
The doctor explained it well it both of us and was always there to help.
No one has any right to hide something that important from the person it affects especially if they already know something is wrong. They are only going to worry more by not knowing. |

I agree with Kathy, I would want to know. age should not be a deciding factor when telling the truth is concerned. There will be other factors but its will also be down to the relationships between family members.
It was bad enough for me telling my wife and children when I was diagnosed with cancer 8 years ago. They were more shocked than I was.
Currently all clear although waiting for my annual check up.
I have nothing but praise for the NHS. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

| compared to some countrys the nhs is a god send and have nothing but admoration for the doctors and nurses who waork there .Hpw ever there should be limits on the people who use the nhs and untill that happens the nhs will keep going down the pan. |

If you had to streamline the NHS you could start with the obvious and then make the harder decisions.
1. All non-Commonwealth persons
2. Restrict to just the British Isles
3. Restrict to just the people who have actually paid in a National Insurance stamp.
4. Restrict to people who have never smoked or taken illicit drugs.
