sorry I not contributed to this topic before now but what with work and canvassing I not had much time. My good wishes to Sophy and Chuck for tomorrow, I shall be at the polling station (North Star Club) from 7am and on and off during the day.
With regard to involvement of councillors on this site I have been promoting it during our campaign meeting and with individual town councillors almost since it started.
I am aware that many of the town councillors and officers of the council (yes I know you do!) are active watchers/guests, some of them may even be contributors but with a alias.
It can be a bit intimidating leaving a comment not knowing who is going to read it and how scathing they may be in reply. I was always prepared to use my real identity and fight my corner on what I believe is right, even before I had decided to stand in this election.
This is another medium to be able to communicate to the wider public to guage reactions to ideas and to formulate new ideas. I am disappointed that there are not more people contributing be they councillors or plebs like myself.
No matter who you are going to vote for no one can say that they did not have the chance to speak to the candidates in Calne North. In addition to leaflets, personal canvassing, shopping in Sainsbury's (& other shops in the town) we have have quite a dialogue on www.calnetalk.com
Alana surely thats worth a piece in the Gazette & Herald after the election?
no matter who you vote for please take the time tomorrow to do so!

That is a very good point. Everything has been out in the open, nobody has been hiding behind an alias and the replies are there to be read for all to see. I think that alone deserves an article in the Gazette & Herald. Come on, Alana what do you reckon? _________________

just taking a quick break from the rigours of the hustings, the early indications (at least in Calne North) is that the turnout is going to be low. That does not take into account the number of postal votes
cast. Unless there is a last minute turnout, which I hope there is, the vote will struggle to reach 40% which is very poor considering the importance of this vote.
So if you are reading this please vote, hopefully for me, no matter who you vote for. Don't let someone you don't want to win because of apathy! _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

I voted a little earlier in Seend and one of the clerks said it was quite well attended, with just over 200 people voting and still a couple of hours to go. I don't know what, in percentage terms, this equates too but it can't be bad for a village. _________________

North Star. At about 1830-1900 there was a steady stream, we came back from work, had our tea then popped down, and it was quite busy.
The longest list of MEP candidates I've ever seen, about 2 feet long including the Christ party, and the COrnish Liberation Front.
I voted on both accounts.
Good luck, when do you find out? |

I think the results ought to be in shortly. It's like waiting to see who has won the Oscar. _________________

sorry to disappoint you but the result for the Unitary council will not be known before tomorrow afternoon. (Friday 5th)
The count starts at 9am with the polling boxes being open and the polling papers reconciled with the record of papers issued. When all the boxes are verified then the process of counting starts.
Its estimated that Calne North could be announced at approx 1:30 to 2:30.
I will give the result on Calnetalk.com as soon as possible.
Thank you to anyone who voted for me.
