I saw one this morning at 8.45am (an eager beaver) in the town centre.
Trouble is they only seem interseted in the easy money, ie town centres and the areas where they're really needed (where there may be some confrontation) they avoid.

Ohh and as for the parking at Dixon way.
The District council own the grass verges not Westlea.
If you want parking there approach the DC and complain about it there. This can then be taken up with Westlea who will run an analysis with the local residents.
If it is then officialy accepted thatit is needed, then Westlea and the DC will seriously look into the possibility of new parking.
Have a look at the new Stokes croft parking on the grass areas ..... it's happened there already and seems to work !? |

The parking enforcement is undertaken in North Wilts by the District Council as part of the Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE) regime. Previously this was the responsibility of the Police, but they couldn't be bothered / had other things to do.
Generally they only enforce clearly marked yellow line offences, marked time limited bays, loading restrictions etc. I don't think they deal with parking on verges etc. |

Whilst it is not ideal parking on the verges or even on the pavement cannot be ticketed by Parking Wardens as they do not have the legisltaive powers if outside London. The Police can ticke you but only if they see you in the process of parking not actualy parked - bizarre!
Anyway my experience of parking regulations is they take ages to change and should be policed quite strongly if the restrictions are in place for safety reasons. On single lines there is an established period of grace 5 mins that is accepted best pratice. SUch details can be found by contacting PATROL who can explain also how to appeal etc... if you feel you are unfarily treated.
If people are seen parking in a dangerous situation then either call the parking officer at NWDC or the police (but probably not 999)
