Yes, the lantern parade is on for 2008! !  The scheduled date is 29th November to coincide with Calne Town Council's Christmas Lights switch on.  You might think it's a bit early to be notifying you of the date, but if you or any of your family wish to take an ACTIVE part in this year's parade there is an open meeting in the Lansdowne Hotel @ 7:30 PM on the 8th October.  All are welcome.

You will have an opportunity to learn how to make your own lantern or work on the larger scale projects.  There will be free workshops, materials and help (if required) to make standard lanterns or to your own design.

Please come along show your support and meet the "Lantern Lady" and team and make the parade spectacular success. :thumbr:

Who's paying for the drinks in the Lansdowne on the 8 October?

That hardly represents a free or 'open' meeting really in a private hotel, unless the landlord/manager is happy for people to arrive and buy nothing, which would be unusual?

I may call in briefly but I am more than likely gonna be there in the parade anyway, as I was in the last three.

Would it, why? Don't quite understand the cynicism there TBH.

Excuse Geddi  he just nit picks everything.

Keith, can anyone make one to go in the parade?
I would love to give it a go.
I watched it for the first time last year and was impressed with all the different designs.
There are some pictures on the forum of last years parade some where.
