Been looking on another forum (yeah, I know, disloyal! ), and I came across this:

http://shak.myfreeforum.org/This_Has_To_Be_Stopped_about13.html

I'm obviously not alone on this one, how can animal cruelty be labelled as art?
The so called "artist" Guillermo Vargas Habacuc should be tethered and starved to death, and his agony through starvation could be deemed as "art", or more suitably "justice".
Could you imagine the uproar if this was done to a human being for the sake of "art"?

That is disgusting!! How anybody can regard that animals suffering as some form of art is very disturbing indeed. Even more so are the ghouls who more than likely paid to see this spectacle. Roll eyes

The petition page does not seem to work.  I will call back to that page later.

We could all write to the Honduran embassy in London to complain.  I am doing so now - admin@embassyhomepage.com

I have no idea how much of an effect this will have, but I think a few hundred thousand individual emails should make a difference when the embassy staff have to deal with them all!

The artists name is - Guillermo Vargas Habacuc.

If he ever comes to England, Blocks wish may come true.  There is still a very active animal rights group within this country.

This is a copy of that I have just written to the Honduran embassy in London.  I am copying to to most of my email list and speaking to people in USA and other parts of the world to get them to act as well.

Sirs

I write to you in hope that decency will prevail.

The artist Guillermo Vargas Habacuc who starved a small dog to death as, so called, 'art' is a despicable human being with the morals of a nazi and the etiquette of a jackal.  To allow his starving to death of a dog once is bad enough, a sickness in the heart of the nation, yet to be encouraged to perform the stunt again is beyond sick.  Has your country no laws against cruelty to animals?

What will he think of next?  A dying human being?  A frieze or photos of a catastrophic car accident?  Some body parts of a rape victim?  What?

If the country of Honduras allows this kind of 'Art', what does that say about the beating heart of Honduras to the world?

I ask you to speak to the Honduran government and intervene to stop this tasteless and barbaric act from being shown or carried out again.  The dog may well have been going to die anyway, but making a spectacle of this does not make it right, it only demeans the entire nation and shows the world that Honduras is a country with bad taste.  This is a shame, as I am certain there are far better things for Honduras to be famous for.

Geddi, I too have copied and pasted your letter of complaint (plus my name at the bottom of the letter) to the e-mail address you listed -  admin@embassyhomepage.com

Perhaps we have another cause on our hands? smiling  What type of society would call this art?

GTB: Flattered as I may be by your copying my email.  Please, if anyone else is intending sending disapproval by email to the Honduran embassy, change the wording and certainly the subject heading will be different.  Copied letters, emails and such carry little weight, whereas individually written letters and emails carry a lot of weight.

There are an inordinate number of campaigns going on at any given moment throughout the world.  I join in with those which come my way which either strike me as being immediately pressing, as with the dying dog 'art' rubbish, or those which I have chosen to focus upon as being crucial within the world sphere for a better future.

I wont go into details here but there are about a dozen.

Block:  Hats off to you for bringing this to our attention.  With a fast reaction we can, perhaps, let the b@$t@rd$ know how we feel about such abhorrent behaviour.  Nice one.

(P.S. hope you realise how I grimace as I write this...)

You are quite right, Geddi.  Looks like another e-mail will be winging its way to the Embassy then.

  Yeah, it sucks!

We won't always agree on certain issues, but hey, isn't that what debate and stuff is about?
There are a lot of other issues in the world, and in this country for that matter that are similar in stature and depravity to this posting, but it takes a lot of people to change things.
