ALL: check out the news today where a credit card style rationing card is being mooted! Suggested amount to begin with is 10 tonnes per year. As used, this goes down. If we stay within our amount we can pass it on to others. If we prefer we can then get a credit from the government and turn it into cash.
Also, watch life after people/humans/whatever tonight at 9pm.
I am guessing some will watch with a pre-ordained idea of what to think. I am not one of them. I know that Leonardo Di Caprio is no scientist.

If people get cash back for being green does that mean that the Government will hit the not-so-greens in the pocket when they go over their limit? Probably. _________________

GTB: when I first heard of the idea of CO2 rationing back in 1999 or so, the idea was penned as being a lot more radical. in other words, if you go over your limit, say with a flight to Florida, you will be very cold the following Winter or end up cycling everywhere.
Loads of people get quite solid and righteous when the wartime rationing and such is mentioned. Check out how fast certain factories and industries were changed to create war machines. Look at the sawn off iron railings which was all for the war effort back the in the early 1940s. We buckled up and bent to the task and got it done. People all over the world did it, and did it with a song and dance and a smile.
Now, we aren't being attacked by any countries, unless you include Chinese cheap imports, and yet we have a major crisis looming which threatens a lot of what we have in our lives.
To my mind, this is no bad thing to me to get more radical. Remember the Icelandic cod wars? We did what we didn't really want to then to protect our resources of cod! (anyone messes with our fish and chips and we'll nuke 'em!) Now, we are losing loads of kinds of fish - look at how tiddly even mackerel have become! They are barely 6" long now what we get in fresh. I got mackerel in Cornwall just 20 years ago which were easily 2' long.
We need radical action and a strong government to make those unpopular changes. Some people (in the USA mainly) call me a liberal, but they have no idea! _________________ Democracy is dead. |
