Block: There is a project coming up soonish, whch I am involved with to a degree. One aspect of the project is that local people will need to be onboard in order to get funding for a massive overhaul of it. It's a project worth somewhere in the region of £250,ooo or so, I believe. A long term prospect trailing over five years or so.
If you would like to be first informed and involved in this, to pass on information etc, I can let you know as soon as something comes off. If you wish to email me personally, I have not hidden my email address in this site. Do so and I'll have yours then as well. _________________ Democracy is dead. |

I know one of the Conservatives plans on tackling Unemployment Benefit claimants is to make them do Community Work - the idea being, those who genuinely are having trouble finding work and do want to get back to work would welcome something to do and those who can't be arsed would soon be weeded out as the frauds they are.
The issue I have with Incompacibility Benefit is that there are too many people claiming falsely and I know a few people who have disabilities (more life affecting then some of those who are claiming) and they are working full time. The documentry which was on the other night stated that you get so much money on Disability Benefit that if they look for jobs they want at least £20k to ensure they can cover the life the have become used too _________________ aut viam inveniam aut faciam! |

Kizzy: I'd like a job where after just 10 years I can quadruple (or more) the vast wealth I have accumulated. I'd like a fifth house and at least five months annual leave. I'd also like a full head of hair, again, and a better sense of taste, but hey, life's a bitch!
£20k per year in benefits? I don't know anyone who gets quite that much, though I do know some who do get quite a lump each week.
I was on InCap for about two years and I got the maximum of around £85 per week plus housing and council tax benefits. I did have to pay some of my rent and council tax out of the £85 and I found it a struggle to cope with longer term.
Now, the government wants at least 150 people per day to get off InCap benefit in Wiltshire alone for the next year or more. This is excluding Swindon. ALL of the people who we all know who are in the situation of claiming InCap will be interviewed and likely to be encouraged off it and either into work or Job Seeker's Allowance.
I may apply for a job as one of the interviewers! _________________ Democracy is dead.
