After hearing about it for a while I finally went over the weekend - my impression was that the food was quite good, with a big menu, but it was perhaps a bit of a victim of its own success as it was pretty busy and we were a bit slow getting served throughout the meal.
Anyone else had experience of this restaurant?

Sorry, I meant the Spice of Bengal! Wood Street, Calne.
It was about £12 a head. |

I hate being rushed when eating out. I remember being asked to leave in an Indian restaurant because the table had another booking on it that night. It spoilt what had been an enjoyable evening up until then. _________________

Yes , we have noticed that the service has gone down hill a little recently at "The spice", we were there not long ago and we were ushered from our table as soon as we had placed out last spoonfull of yellow stuff in.
Nice food but service a little rushed. |

I celebrated my birthday at the Spice on Saturday 18th April and the food and service were fantastic!
They even provided chips and beans for my ultra fussy son! At the end of the meal they gave me a complimentary bottle of champagne. |

Went there last Wednesday evening with a party of 20 ladies for the 3 course meal for £9.95 each.
The service was very quick despite the place being completely full. The food was lush. One of the best Indian restaurants i've eaten in. I have just moved down from Leeds/Bradford where i have been for 12 years and as the home of indian cusine and having been to absolutely loads of places i would rate this one up with the top ones in Leeds/Bradford where indian restaurants are two a penny.
I had the Lamb tikia as a starter, a Chicken Korma, plain nann and a potato/spinach dish. lush..... Will def go back with the hubby. _________________ EstEst |

Usually get a takeaway from here when at my friends house - one of the better Indians I have had locally - good takeaway.
Usually works at around just over £40 for four of us. Thats mains, rice and a Naan each.
