I understand that most if not all had been at a party in Abberd and they decided it would be good to get a kabab, nothing wrong in that.
A large number are thought to have come from outside Calne.
There was in fact not any trouble but the perception was that there was going to be, rightly or wrongly.
No I don't think that Calne has an anti social behaviourable problem, at least no more than any other market town.
There are though a very small minority who enjoy their "celebrity"
status. |

I would say yes calne does has a problem, all be a small one.
Im not really concerned with other market towns, just making calne a better, safer place.
Last night going to bed around midnight, we looked out of the bedroom window because we heard a noise, there were no less than 30 teenagers walking towards the park with boxes of beer already being rowdy.
Each week in the paper there are stories of cars being damaged, windows being smashed, sheds being broken into. im sure the people who has had this happen will say they think theres a problem. |

Calne has no worse problem than any other local town in terms of anti social behavior.
The problem is not the kids ....... it is the lack of things for them to do here...
The council wanted to rid us of our Youth centre ..... Well done Calne town council for keeping it going
The council wanted to get rid us of our sports center....... Well done, Peter & Kevin etc for making such a wonderfull effort in respect of that.
The council have fenced off the school fields, where the children of calne always used to play after school.
The council have closed nealy all of the local community parks..... ie Luckett way, swadden street, north end...... etc.
The council do not care for the youth of today, they are a large cause of the problem..... they have taken away the places for youth to express themselves in a respectable manner. And then they have the audacity to turn around and wander why there are kids in the street causing problems....... Makes me sick !!!!!!!!. |

Sorry, with respect I don't think that is correct to blame the council - I cannot see that saying there is no parks is an excuse for drinking in the street, anti-social behaviour or other problems that happen. Councils are not the social 'nannies' of youth, at least in my understanding. |

As i said my concern is not any other town, let try and get calne back on its feet before we take on the world.

Ive always lived in calne, and there has never been much for kids to do here.

The age limit for the kids using the youth centre is not covering the age of the kids that are hanging around the town.

Well done to everyone who helped re-open the centre, i just hope it gets used this time around.

Why? Due to older kids vandalizing the place.
| Quote: | | The council have closed nealy all of the local community parks..... ie Luckett way, swadden street, north end...... etc. |
The park in anchor road is still open, what do the kids do? Go and drink there. The police are there every week.

Calne council is as much to balme as anyone, we offered to fix up the "bowl", after talking to the kids in calne it was something they did want and they wanted to help, so we offered labour free, the council turned us down flat, they would rather pay a stupid amount of money, and its still not done!!
But the main people to balme are the parents, where do they think there little darlings are at night and what do they think they are doing?? |

It is so easy to blame every one except ourselves, if "you/I" are unhappy with the system then do what we did get off your backside and do something about it. The result is the new leisure centre where kids of all ages are welcomed (what it is not is a baby sitting service).
I assure everyone that all the 3 tiers of councils will fall over backwards to help with any community incentive to entertain teenagers.
Members of the community have to plan, promote and instigate but there are funds out there to obtained.
Be positive and don't wait for someone else. |

Which is why i was at the centre helping out myself !
I firmly believe that giving the kids opportunity, respect and places where they can express themselves through sport or play gives them a sense of purpose and responsibility.
Where as taking away the places and parks where they can express themselves in a positive manner, just seems such a negative thing to do.
Yes i completely agree, it is the parents and certain areas of society that are to blame. It seems crazy to me how these parents do not give a damn about there kids and what they are doing. They seem to have given up on life as whole and the kids suffer for there own lack of self, it's so sad to see.
I'd like to know...... What did you all do between the ages of say 12 and 21 and whats so different from today ? |

calne has a big problem with kids underage drinking and drunken behaviour at weekends.
where does the underage kids get it from?
why is it that the law states that no pub /club should serve achol to someone who appears drunk .yet the state you see some people in. |

Must admit I've never understood either, I can only think that shops don't check properly or that they have fake Id, or over 18s buy it and give it to them. |
