Good question. I would imagine that the Lansdowne would want to keep a clean entrance to their premises so it would be in their best interests to go out their a few times a day and sweep up. It also goes to show what a messy lot the smokers are! _________________

Not sure who "the litter man" is - presumably some publicly-funded person that all us non-smoking taxpayers pay for because smokers can't be arsed to place their dog-ends in the rubbish? |

Totally agree. Why should smokers think they have the right to discard fag butts on the pavement as they feel fit - whether they pay more tax or not? Cigarette smokers are certainly the most un-sociable members of the public with not only their litter habits but also the foetid stench of their smoke, plus themselves after a cigarette.
On a slight tangent, how can people afford to smoke these days?? I saw cigarettes for sale last night in Bromham Social Club for £6.00 a packet! _________________

Right, so by the same argument, as I pay car tax, I should expect to throw litter out of my car window and have someone employed to pick it up, yes?
Somehow I don't think so... |

I was driving down Old Derry Hill this afternoon and saw a trail of MacDonald's takeaway rubbish strewn all up the middle of the road. It is a sad state of affairs that somebody saw fit to throw this out of their car window rather than take it home and dispose of it properly. _________________

morally its the responsibility of the Lansdowne but legally its the council, county council. the town council does employ a street cleaner who does operate in the town centre.
i am sure that the Lansdowne will want to deal with this one.
