Younger/irresponsible drivers

Most of you know I live up Anchor road, and I am sure this is not an exclusive problem.
Over the weekends/holidays/after work, we seem to be getting a lot of (being polite) idiots that come belting along anchor road, a few have been doing around 50-60mph. There has been a few screech's and near misses, but what can be done about it? Not much it would seem.
Same applies to the motorbike/mini moto riders, but worse, they cut through to horsebrook via the pavement.
You call the police, wait 15mins to get through to them, its not a priority so they dont bother.
Why do we have to wait until someone gets injured, or killed?
Remember Lewis? - nearly all of the young idiots that have r.i.p lewis in their car windows drive like complete prats, and I have had several near misses with these people because of their poor driving and observation. I reitterate, not all of them, but most.
Now, if I were to be on my drive, and accidently drop a four inch fence post on the narrow road where I live just as a speeding driver approached, what would happen????
With the minimoto's, it's been a drawn out conclusion that calling the police simply won't bother and never have up this end of town, so we have taken things into our own hands. They come past here, they get knocked off, simple but extremely effective, we haven't seen one for months due to the local grapevine. Only had one disgruntled youth who decided to approach me with a golf club, but changed his mind quickly when I moved a scaffold pole.
Speed humps would deter all but the extreme idiots, traffic calming would only encourage them to see how quick they could slalom. More beat bobbies may help, but hey, I live in the real world.
Biggles

yeah know what you mean about anchor road, i walk home along there from rec club at nights and a lot of places they come screaming by you (remembering a fair stretch of anchor road you have to walk in the road) its quite scary at times espec in the dark

A few years back we had one car turn upside down because the driver was going to fast.........
Had to laugh when the firemen got there he was already out of the car, but when they had to turn it back onto its wheels all the driver was worried about was his alloys...............................of course the firemen just had to rock the car a few times to get it back the right way    you should have seen the drivers face when he saw the deep scratches on his beloved alloys    priceless

I get fed up of seeing the Police doing speed traps first thing in the morning at the top of the hill by the George/White Hart roundabout - they could just go a round the town pulling over the young drivers in their sooped up cars - prats the lot of them!!
GTB

I'm sure that if the police were to carry out random stop and searches of these vehicles that are speeding down your road it will soon send a shock of fear amongst their mates and hopefully put a halt to their stupidity.

Im sure it would GTB, if the police wanted to know!!!
daffy

Iam sure when all these little boys and girls have grown up they will realise what prats they have been in there sooped up saxos and clios and there old BMWS with there crappy music blaring out and furry sterring wheel covers ,but then again in my day it was ford escorts ,astras and capris with the little fingers sticking out the boot and the "KEV  @ SHAZ " sun visors. But thats no excuse to drive like a idiot .
