I agree : it is absolutely appalling what has been done with the dentistry service. We used to have a high quality, free for all service, now it is almost impossible to find a decent NHS dentist and the private ones charge astronomical prices. No wonder the dental health of the nation has taken a severe nose-dive, with the majority of people no longer doing the recommended checkups: I know I haven't for quite a few years now.
It's an example of how we are misguidedly falling into the trap of doing things the same way as the US, where those that can pay do so through the nose, and those that cannot get no service at all.

there is a list you can get for those taking on the nhs.hospitals are nhs and you dont have to pay .
there is a rapid decline in teeth care in britian.and with out being racist there is very few english dentists about now most are polish or indian.
at my dentist there are five dentists and only one is english the dentist is a little hard to understand.
the result is you enter a room open your gob if all is fine you are in there for less than two minutes hand your file to the recepionists (who if anything like the one at mine spends her days sucking lemons)
you also give her 16 quid and get told you need to see her in 6 months.

I would agree with that one.Afriend of mine went as he had rotten toothache.They discovered he had a abcess.They told him that it was to swollen and could not have anything done to it untill the swelling had gone down.
Come back in a month 
He went back expecting a filling or a extraction of the tooth.He got a filling which fell out a week later.He went back and the tooth was taken out.

I went there and they said I needed a root canal.
They put a temporary filling in with disintegrated after a couple of weeks, and the one I put in myself to replace it lasted longer.
Then I went to a proper dentist and they said I only needed a permanent filling.
The emergency ones in Chippenham wanted to butcher my tooth for no reason.

I used to have a lovely dentist but she was in Swindon, so when split from my ex it was a long way to go and drag 3 kids along. so we haven't got one at the min cause my daughter has a fear of them aswell

I dont think we will be on their register any more  its been a couple of years now. But they are very good.

i would ring up kathy and see if you are nhs dentists are extreamly hard to find.my other alf has a dentist in trowbridge it is the closet one he could get.

I haven't been to the dentist for years, as i live in melksham, i work in calne and my dentist was in chippenham (it was a private dentist - all i could find) it was quite an annoying journey just to spend £20 on a quick check up and for them to squeeze another £35 by saying i needed my teeth cleaned everytime i went.
I am looking to get on an NHS list - and there is one in Melksham who will only take melksham residents on as NHS patients (my other half uses them so i'm gonna give it a try)

kizzy try den plan its a mounthly direct debit of about 12 quid. but they are very through and you are covered in a emergancy.we used to have one in malbough.
