I think the questions are many and varied, but if it were my daughter, I would imagine she would need a hell of a lot of support right now. Bashing the brains (if he actually has any) of the 53 year old would doubtless make a few people feel better but would not actually do anything positive for the situation.
I would wonder why my daughter was finding herself attracted to a man of 53 and do some soul searching while I am at it.
I would most certainly inform the man's wife, kids, neighbours, relatives, enemies, employers, bank manager and anyone else who would listen, what kind of man he was, unless by doing so I brought more unhappiness into my daughter's life.
While all this is going on and my daughter was making a decision about what she wanted to do, I would be quietly looping two thoughts in my head:
1. Vengeance is a dish best served cold (old Sicilian saying);
2. Nothing ever burns down by itself (song lyrics)!
