Yea he was a scary guy wasn't he !.
I would bring back .... hmnn .... Grifter bikes .... do you remember them ... the ones with the gear stick in the middle of the frame between your legs .... and to brake you had to peddle backwards !

My mate had a Grifter, you could pull lovely skids going round corners by just pushing backwards on the pedals. I had a nice big red chopper to ride around on. :thumbr:

The bike with the gear shift in the middle was a Chopper, a Grifter had the gear change in the handle bar like a motorbike throttle it was a grown up version of a Striker which was the one you had to peddle backwards for the brake, still good for doing sideway skids and wheelies.
Never had a chopper, but have one now

Blimey .... i must have had a striker then .... it was a metalic brown one and was hard to stop if you went fast enough .......

The only problem having a chopper with the gear lever on the cross bar is if you braked suddenly and slid forward - cue aching nether regions (for a lad that is! :thumbl: ).

Subbuteo, I believe they dont make them anymore. Probably because of all the electronic stuff kids can get now. We had endless fun nd even had a league going where you had to play away fixtures at your opponents house.
