why?????
mixed right grass cutting as long as it has no crap in it is fantastic for composts and turns out to be a great soil for plants.
its a complete waste to throw grass cuttings away.

I don't have a lawn. My garden is paved. So if i found grass cuttings in my garden, they must of come from next door.

Do you want some of ours? We have loads of lawn but no other plants yet, so the compost bin turns to smelly mushy goo.

Eat them!    :D

No, serious, I have a brown bin that I put them in and the council takes it away.

We'll probably have to get a brown bin.

Why is it that we put our green waste in a brown bin and our normal waste in a green bin?  Bristol was much more sensible.

Black bin for normal waste
Green bin for "green" (hence the colour....) waste.

Is Wiltshire a bit behind the curve?

would be glad of them in the summer.if you do only have grass cuttings it will turn in to like slime.it has to have a good mix of stuff to make good compost.

Cos we have a new house, we haven't done anything with the garden yet, so have no "brown" green waste to balance out the "green" green waste, so the compost bin has indeed turned to slime. One day I'll open it up and add in some cardboard to redress the balance.

this site might help pimp its the site i work off and has helped me loads to get get a good mix.

what are you intending to do with your garden is it just flowers  and hedges or will you grow veg?

the compost you have at the moment you could always add to any soil now and it will just rot into the soil.

Cool - will look there. Did you get some cotoneasters off us?

Garden will have veg plot (raised beds with new pressure treated sleepers) behind the garage, about 20 feet square with green house.

Rest will be a patio and low wall (for kiddies to ride bikes on), lawn (to play games on), and borders with normal plants. Possibly a playhouse too in the corner. Will see how things go.
