Westbury Cement Works is ClosingNow that the cement works are being moth-balled for an undetermined time what on earth is going to happen to all the tyres that the plant has been burning as fuel for the last decade or so?? I worked at the cement works back last summer building a new laboratory and had access to virtually the whole plant. They were burning approx. 10,000 tyres each and every day in their kilns and had room to increase this amount. Each tyre would be totally burnt up within 12 seconds due to the heat of the fire. The cement works also used waste water as part of the cement making process.
