to insure or not to insurewhat do you think is it worh insuring your pets?

-if the animal is young enough then yes, but you do have to shop around to find out exactly what cover you are getting.
Unfortunately, most insurances for pets are a rip off, so you might be better off opening up a savings account instead.
And depending on the type and breed of animal, it can sometimes raise premiums, or some companies just wont insure.

i have been told that when you look into the insurance make sure you get life cover rather than so much a illness

yeah, some will only pay so much per illness.
Always read the small print (as with any insurance)

do you include public liability insurance? if your animal, assuming it can, was to run into the road and cause an accident you could potentially be liable. would that be covered on your household insurance.
my wifes horse is insured but due to his age, 24, she cannot get medical insurance. she puts aside £25.00 each month to help cover costs. a vets visit will cost £100 befor the cost of any medicines.
the only other pets we have are goldfish in the garden pond which it seems we only keep to feed the odd passing heron or so it seems. thank goodness they breed like rabbits but we still buy a few more every couple of years. paid for 4 recently but 2 of them died within a week, no insurance so money down the drain so to speak.

Peter, if you put a string of wire around the pond about 5/6 inches up the heron wont be able to entre the pond as they cant bend there legs over the wire.

kathy done that and they still land on the water lilies/weed in the middle of the pond. not only that but we have had to pull 2 pigeons and a blackbird out of the pond after being "strung" up on the fishing wire. not something I enjoy doing.

My old chap had a problem with a heron and had to put a strawberry net over to pond to stop it.

done that, but it looks terrible and if I felt I have to leave it there I would fill the pond in. its my choice to allow the heron almost free access but we do have a lot of birds using the pond to drink and bathe.
the pond was designed to be "wild", there is no running water but survives because of the mix of wildlife we have.
we have flowering plants from April to August and multi-coulour dragon flies. its not so quiet now all those new houses have been built.
not quite sure how this is about insurance, but it's summer!

I would urge anyone to take out pet insurance.
Our dog recently fractured a bone in her leg ... the vet's bills came to over £1000. We were very glad we were covered by insurance.

sophy what insurance company did you use and would you reccomend them.My biggest fear is that if something went wrong like that it would be a case of oh we dont cover that
