A short while ago, Calne Chamber of Commerce started a new initaive designed to get local businesses working together better.

Entitled THINK CALNE, the aim of the initiative is to get business owners, employees within those businesses and townsfolk themselves to look to see if there is a business in the local area that can offer the products or services they are looking for and to 'consider' giving the business to them rather than using suppliers from outside of the local area.

With the vast majority of residents in the town being employed by local businesses, it is the livelihoods of our families and friends that are being put at risk by the economic downturn and by supporting local trades and businesses, we can all be doing something to keep local businesses running.

Its also about getting some of the community spirit back that seems to have been lost over the years. There are SO many different businesses within the Calne area that can provide a wide range of products and services, not just large organisations but small businesses, family businesses and sole traders.

If you operate a business in or around the Calne area, you may wish to consider joining the Chamber like so many new members already have done this year. Calne Chamber of Commerce is one of the few chambers in the county that are bucking the trends by actually INCREASING its member numbers showing that local businesses DO care, DO want to work with each other and DO want to be part of a wider community.
