The new building behind the libral club

Are the ever going to finish that?
i went passed there yesterday and it was like that last summer.
I heard last summer that they found some human remains thought to be from the quakers.
Even so it taking a long time. Roll eyes

I believe they have come accross a stumbling block.

The site was never thought out very well and in the rush to build it they never thought about how they were going to access it.

NWDC own the land at the rear of Phelps Parade (the land which surrounds the development) and have never given permission for them to use there land as a private drive or car park for the house they are building (they were never asked). So the only official way it can be access is through the shop at the front !!!.

So the development is a bit of a white elephant, as the land around the house, will in the near future be a part of the new Woolworths delivery yard and development.... It's a funny one really and i'm not sure why the people who are developing it never thought about it ......
Local lass

what a daft mistake surley they would have discovered that when planning permission was sort?
Peter Dolman

The town council did not support this particular planning application but was approved by the district council some 2 to 3 years ago.

There is an old Quaker burial ground at the back of the new takeaway so it would not be surprising if bones were uncovered.
Local lass

what will become of that building>?
Chepfer

I guess it depends on the owners.
It'll either be sold off (to someone unsuspecting)

or it will sit there for a long time......

or it will be finished and lived in ...... with access from wood street only.

I find it a very odd one i have to say !!!!

I heard the other day that it was going to be demolished because of the new Woolworths being erected there  Roll eyes  Roll eyes

it proberly will be .but what a complete waste.

just how did they let it get this far built with out realising the problem.

Kizzy

I more surprised as why? -  if I was going to build a house, I'm sure it would be built somewhere a bit more interesting then the back of the Liberal Club - not exactly an ideal housing area
Chepfer

It's not in the plans to be demolished when phelps is, it's on private land with no official access other than from the high street (yes through a shop !)
Angel

I heard today that the builder ran out of money and stopped paying the builders so they walked off site !!!!
Might just be gossip though but whoever designed this house needs to join a circus and be trained up as proffessional clowns  Roll eyes  Roll eyes  Roll eyes

I don't think the building looks that bad. The external skin has got to be rendered yet (and probably painted - unless they use a coloured and textured resin based render).

Can't say I've taken a lot of notice. :?
