The Hungry Horse - chippenham

Went there last night .
Had a excellent starter which was  duck pancakes. :D
someone also had a prawn cocktail  which was served in a sunday glass ,which was filled up with lettuce then on top was a tablespoon of prawns.
two of us then had steak which both was over cooked.
two others had the fish and chips, the fish was massive and quite tasty.unfortunatley the fish last night had hell of a lot of bones in .
The onions rings were like rubber they were cold and tasted like they had been cooked in dirty oil.
for five of us the bill was £57.00 .
If i was travelling and am hungry then i would prob go there again but i certainly would not if it was for a occassion.
i would sooner go to somewhere, where there is quality over quantity.

the big question is......

DID YOU COMPLAIN at the time???

I certainly would have done! Might have got a reduction off the bill too.

So you would not recommend this place then?? These sorts of places are pretty awful for food in my opinion - the stack the plate high in low quality food brigade. Wasn't there a programme a while back which detailed places like the hungry horse for using Asian Ox instead of British beef because it was less than half the price?

if you want cheap ,converier belt food then  i would reccomend it .
daffy

:twisted:you dont need to be a chef there all you need to know is how to work a microwave and use a chip fryer .
that saying springs to mind "pay peanuts get monkeys "
Local lass

I went there one sunday .i had a roast what wasnt bad .
but they used frozen potatos and frozen veg.
it was cheap i wouldnt go there again though.
soiley

its a good resturant if you like microwaved crap
Chepfer

We went there a couple of weeks ago and had and ok meal... no thrills cheap and filled us up.

I have to say i don't really enjoy eating and see it as more of a chore than anything .........

If you want a decent meal and your in the vicinity of the Hungry horse ..... then head to the pheasant just down the road .... it's very nice in there though a little more expensive !

Its ok if you want a quick cheap meal ,but if my husband said he was taking me for a meal out and i ended up there i would deck him ! i worked there for a good number of years and if only you could see what went on !!!
