Re: Testing on animalsI vote no, animals feel pain and emotion just like us, why should they suffer just for human c**ts who destroy the planet?
If as many humans were pumped full of expermental chemicals, dissected alive, and killed and toruted through various means for these drugs, cosmetics etc, when they didn't want to be, there'd be uproar

I did think that stfc but we had this discussion on a nother forum what about medical testing.Agreed they should never be tested on for the sake of cosmetics but for medicine

medicine is just as bad... still testing, still evil.

they do a vast amount of testing on cancer reserch on animals.would you go as far to say that if you ever had cancer you would refuse treatment because of it?
or if you had a head ache would you refuse a paracetamal because of it?
if i had my way i would make them test it on the inmates of the prisons.

if they can find cures for cancer/menigitus and other life threatning illness by testing on animals then so be it.as far as i know there is no other way at presant.

they don't actually need to test on animals.

We shouldn't test on animals. it's not just our Planet, they have a right to roam free, not to be cooped in some lab. The whole testing should be voluntarily. As Wooler said, they feel plain too.

I know this will probably provoke a strong reaction but if a person is against animal testing on animals does that mean that they will be a vegatarian I have never quite been able to understand those who are against it yet sit down at Sunday lunch time to roast beef with all the trimmings.

to be fair though most animals are humanly killied there is very little suffering involved.
see your point though bear i expect they eat factory farmed chicken.

I voted yes for testing: I do think that care should be taken to only do what is necessary and use other means where possible, but if animal testing involves avoiding human suffering, then I am in favour.

I don't think we should test on animals for cosmetic use - as cosmetics are not compulsary for everyday life, we choose to use them
However for medical research I am undecided, yes we need to test medications to see how dangerous they are and what effects they have, but how close are animals in our genetic make up? I'm sure rabbits and rats are not that close to us. I do agree with local lass about testing on prisoners who have commited serious crimes against humanity (especially if they are in for life).
And for the record I hardly eat meat, sometimes a bit of chicken but mostly I eat Quorn, due to the fact I have gone off meat, I'd rather just have the vegetables, yorkshire pud and gravy on that roast beef dinner

I eat meat... but always check it's from somewhere where the animals are kept well and allowed to have proper lives and then humanely killed... they get no lives in these disgusting labs.
and rosco... what about animal suffering? why should they suffer for us? I think that's a bit sad, would you torture a baby and kill it just for that????

why should they suffer for us?
you have opened up a can of worms now
so based on your comments that you are make sure animals dont suffer for your needs.i take it you dont wear leather shoes or coats,
that you dont use gillette or loreal product (as they test on animals big time)
that god forbid but if a close reletive was to become extreamly il;l you wouldnt let them get treated as the medicine used to treat them was tested on animals.
i also take it from your comment that you dont shop in icelands as they all chicken in there is factory farmed.
animals are put on to this earth for the sole purpose of providing for humans.
i totaly disagree in animal testing for cosmetics but for medine whats another way?

Most of my realtives use homeopathy, as I do myself

I used to, but I haven't for years now since I found out.

How could they be?????

Test the drugs using technology, or, alternative medicine.

from what i understand though is that they get a clearer result by testing on animals.medicne is mostly tested on monkeys because of the dna being so close.

so why do we not just take 20 people off the street, kill 10 of them in the most disgusting way possible, and make the other 10 breed so we can kill their children in the most disgusting way possible, just to cure a disease in monkeys??
The answer: Because it would be vile thing to do, and we are doing it to innocent animals every day in this country

because humans are regarded as more superier than animals.
sftc dont get me wrong if i had my way i would do all the tests on lifers what are in the jails like ian huntley and rose west.

humans are superior to animals, but that doesn't mean they should suffer.

no, that's terrorism, which in my view is as bad as the people who test on animals.

i would as well .
the thing if what people dont realise is the damage to the enviroment by letting them out.if you remember some idiots let a load of mink out as they were bred for there pelts and the damage they caused was huge.

I have never thought about it like that, Bear but you are correct. I suppose the main difference between testing animals for medicine and rearing animals for meat is that pain is a necessary by-product of testing. Testing for the cause of vanity should have been outlawed decades ago.

They should test on murderers, rapists and pedophiles. But that would probably be against human rights or something.
