Don't know to be honest: I've only seen panicky news articles with no real facts in them. Certainly I doubt that face masks are much use!

i do think this is a bit more serious than the asian flu they had as this flu seems to hit the young and the healthy .i do not think that when it does hit big time we wont be as bad as some other countrys aswe are ment to be well prepared the deaths in mexico are alittle worrying but do they have a health system as good as ares.

I think the media are blowing this story out of all proportions. There is a world population of something like 6 billion people and so far there is less than 200 fatal cases of this swine flu. More people have died on the roads in one day in the world than have so far shed their mortal coil through this flu. I think it's the media's way of trying to cheer us up from the economic gloom.

Well, the warning did come directly from the World Health Organisation, so I'd hesitate to say that it is the media at fault. In any epidemic, the initial numbers are always likely to be low: we can only really judge once a decent period of time has passed.
In any case, on one report I saw, there was some opinion voiced that the impact may be delayed, as the summer should prevent most 'flu epidemics from occurring and it is really the winter afterwards that we need to be prepared for.

that happened to me to but i got through a second time as i was comeing out in rashes and they said the best think for it was oinkment.

remember foot and mouth few years back that started real slow no then it spread like wildfire.

This is all just scarmongering even the Mexican authorities are now saying its not as bad as they first thought,
They are saying its on a par with normal flu and that kills thousands each year.
Perhaps the WHO have to hype these things from time to time to justify their fat cat salerys.

Totally agree crispy - I will be stocking up on pork products if the prices drop!
The media have seized on this story and made it bigger than it really is - at least it has taken our attention off the economy!
Outside of Mexico the symptoms have been no worse than ordinary flu..........I have no intention of panicking until I see bodies being carted out of the street.............
