Swindon 1-0 Bristol S*it

Fantastic match.

We went there, went into the ground. Taunted the scum in the Stratton Bank for ages, amazing atmosphere whole game.

Penalty scored for us, Robbo, 4 red cards, crowd violence, deafening noise...

I just can't describe it accurately but I got to say, all the filth that say 'Ooh Premiership, better football' etc, they're wrong, they're missing out big time, they're sad filth

It was a great match and everyone got hyped up for a fight what a noise not got back long ago

COME ON SWINDON COME ON SWINDON COME ON SWINDON

Got what they deserved for attacking innocent Swindon fans with baseball bats last season

Well, the way that you seem to describe less of the actual game than the possible fight and violence that might occur is not a very good way to attract sports supporters to football.

it's not about that

it's the rivalry... they hate us, we hate them, they're just down the M4. It's not a sport, it's a religion, and they're against us, we're against them.

The atmosphere alone should attract fans. It was something special yesterday, it really was.

There seems to be an attitude in this country, sit down and shut ya gob. That isn't football. Football is about standing up and singing. Football is about you against your neighbours. The atmosphere was electric.

Personally, I don't fight, but surely there is nothing more fun than being in the middle of a load of local people jumping up and down and taunting a load of Bristol scum?

Oh ok - my mistake : I'd always assumed that it was about sportsmen showing their their skills off against each other.

I see no problem with being vocal in your support of your team, but don't see why you have to be against your neighbours.

Actually, I can think of many more things that are considerably more fun than that - honestly. And I tend to judge people as who they are, not just from where they come (or what team they support).

Re: Swindon 1-0 Bristol S*it

Yes but it's pretty boring without the atmosphere.

More fun against your neighbours.

What is more fun than that?

People are too rich these days... they prefer to do something idiotic like skiing or flying or going to the shops instead.

When I was a lad it was better. It was us from Seaburn from the terraces against the lads from the blocks of flats up Byker.

Nobody could afford owt else, we had nowt to look forward to but the derby when the maggies came down.

Great atmosphere, great fun, we all enjoyed it.

Not the same anymore, very very sad, the rich have ruined the UK.

no, they were there becase they could afford it
Local lass

no, they were there becase they could afford it

no they were there supporting there club just like we were .
how do you describe a supporter someone who follows the game, someone who sings the loudest ,someone who fights for there club?????
When i go to football its to watch and support a team that i love.to soak up the atmosphere.not to go out get drunk and end up in fights no matter who they are playing .

Vienna is different though... very few supporters will be able to afford it, so it's only the posher types
Local lass

no its not different its still football.
going to a game is not about the money its about the love of your club.
(ok agree its a lot better if the tickets wernt so expensive)
I have taken my son to watch them and the last thing i want in a ground is a load of fighting there is just no need for it.
and those who do fight arnt real supporters there just sad individuls who are childish and just want something to brag about in the pub.
football is a family sport.

I think families should be allowed to go without fear, and hooligans should also be allowed to do their thing.

Fenced off area's

but face it, rich people and families don't generate atmosphere

familes should go with out fear and so should other people.hooligans should be banned from going why should they be aloud to spoil peoples fun.

but face it, rich people and families don't generate atmosphere

the atmosphere in all the games i have been to has been fantstic and there was no fighting.there was singing and a unity.
in barcelona in 99 again the atmosphere was brilliant there was no hostillity there is no need.
english football has had such a bad reputation through holigans and its put a lot of people of the game.

take a look at rugby its a rougher game than football ,its played by some massive blokes who dont go down every second claiming its a foal they play on with cuts.you never hear of rugby fans fighting .yet people have more respect for rugby than what they do football.

I'm not talking about hooligans here

I'm talking about the lack of atmosphere these days
Bear

I am sorry to say it STFC but you appear to have started a discussion about hooliganism in football wether you like it or not. Now when I was alot younger there were three types of supporters, there were hooligans, beer monsters and "ordinary" fans. Hooligans were always up for a fight with other hooligans and beer monsters were there for the crack and the match but would sometimes get involved in fights if provoked whilst ordinary fans were left to get on with it. All this changed after Hysel when some Italians were murdered by the stupid actions of some English football followers. I was a beer monster in those days and did on occassion get involved however when the moronic behaviour of those mindless Liverpool followers caused those deaths it was a step too far and I would never condone what they did. Now as I understand it that all stemmed from the sort of behaviour you recounted as having hapened on Saturday which got out of hand and that is why I would not condone the way in which you say some supporters behaved and which has led to this debate.
As for the rich having ruined football I can see where you are coming from and there is an element of truth in what you say although the hooligans of the 70s and 80s have led us to this.
